Green Lake & Yumesamdong trek – (SKTRK- 152)
26 days circular exploration of the third highest peak and the famous Zemu Glacier combined with some fantastic views...
The trek to Green Lakes, the base camp of Mount Kangchenzonga on the Zemu glacier in North Sikkim, requires special approval from the Central government; clients are advised to apply at least three months in advance. This is a splendid area to visit in late spring (May-June) to view wildflowers like rhododendrons, blue poppies and primulae which are all in full bloom then. The mountain views are fantastic as well with an amphitheatre of peaks dominated by the majestic Khangchendzonga at the head of the valley.

Superb mountain views from here include that of Mount Siniolchu, a symmetrical marvel of nature considered by many mountaineering veterans to be the world’s most beautiful peak. And then, there is Mt. Khangchendzonga, a pick above the rest, the third highest mountain of the world from a distance of 10 kilometers, enables the naked eye to catch almost every minute detail on its surface. The smooth outlines that one is so accustomed to while viewing it from afar now appear razor-like, and the slopes coarse chunks of granite protruding above the snow-cover, unmasks this indomitable mountain’s mold.
